The action takes place in the central province of Tamriel, Cyrodiil. The emperor killed by unknown assassins, the empty throne. In the absence of a legitimate monarch gates of Oblivion open and demons invade Cyrodiil, attacking the city and the population. The player´s task - to find the missing heir to the throne and bring back peace and tranquility to plunge into the chaos of war Tamriel.

In the tradition of The Elder Scrolls, the player given the opportunity to carry out the main quest, not limiting themselves in time using a variety of opportunities to explore the wide world. The hero can become a member of numerous factions - such as the Thieves Guild and magicians go storylines associated with each of them and reach the top level of the hierarchy.

A characteristic feature of the game is unique AI-system through which the characters are able to act as appropriate. They decide where to dine, with whom and what to talk about it. They sleep, go to church, sometimes even steal. Full facial animations and lip movements, synchronous speech, coupled with sound of the dialogue in Russian, Cyrodiil allow residents to become more than ever alive, and the player to immerse themselves in the magical world.
